It is with great sadness that the family of William Alonzo Luther announce his passing at the Department of Veterans Affairs Unit of the Long Term Care Facility on Friday September 12, 2014, 9 days before his 96th birthday. William was a WWII Veteran serving overseas with the Merchant Navy. He was a loving and devoted husband for 64 years to the late Pearl Luther. He will always be remembered as a true gentleman and a caring & patient father and grandfather by his 3 children: David (Marie Louise), Lorraine (Bill), and Donna; his grandchildren: Bradley, Rayna, Jonathan, Morgan, Heather, Vicky, and Scott; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Gavin, Dana, Logan, Ava, and Belle; brothers: Jack (Lillian) and Calvin (June); special family member Clemantine, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Pearl; parents John and Elizabeth Luther; sisters Carrie and Dorothy; brothers: Nelson, Clyde, and Gerald. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday September 15 from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will take place from Country Haven Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Marilyn Avery. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, in honor of his best canine friend Abby, donations may be made to NL West SPCA.
