Yvonne Jensen

Passed on: September 12th, 2014

JENSEN- Yvonne Marie; It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Marie Jensen (nee Ferner) age 64 of Webb, Saskatchewan. Yvonne fought a two-year battle with cancer that ended suddenly on September 12, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She was surrounded by her family and friends; a testament to what a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend she was to all who knew her. Yvonne grew up in the Sedley area with her family. After meeting the love of her life, Rick Jensen, she called the Jensen family farm near Webb home for over four decades. Here, they raised three wonderful boys, Bradley, Mark and Kevin Jensen. Rick and Yvonne recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 8th, 2014 with their love still shining for all to see. To the many family and friends who knew and loved Yvonne, she will be remembered most for her warm, welcoming personality and enduring positive nature even when the road of life did not rise up to meet her. She simply steered around whatever obstacle was in her way and kept smiling. Her love of travelling, gardening, cooking, baking, knitting and sewing also kept her busy when she was not at the Autumn House Independent Living Facility in Gull Lake, where she worked for the past seven years. Yvonne was also a member of the Lloyd’s Women’s Institute for many years in the region. Being with family and friends was a very important part of Yvonne’s life. A very proud mother and grandma, she wasn’t one to pass up an opportunity to brag about her three grandchildren Caeden, Maren and Malia. She was also delighted about a fourth grandchild on the way in December of this year. Her nieces and nephews couldn’t wait to see their Aunt Yvonne for some of her delicious butter tarts and Nanaimo bars during the holidays. She was truly one of the lights in our family. Yvonne is survived by her loving husband Rick Jensen; son Brad (Adrienne) and granddaughter Malia Jensen of Warman, SK, son Mark Jensen and grandchildren Caeden and Maren Shaw Jensen of Medicine Hat, AB and son Kevin Jensen of Webb, SK; brother Peter (Bev) Ferner and their daughter Megan (Garrett) Nagy; sister Marlene (Dwayne) Dament and their children Corey and Deanna Dament; brother-in-law Blair (Bea) Jensen and their children Jeanette, Michael (Lacey) and Martin (Lona) Goldney and Wade (Sarah) and Justine Jensen; sister-in-law Deleigh (Brent) Rausch and children Jennie Rausch and Jara (Jeff) Spence; sister-in-law Shelley Jensen (Tom Gibson), along with many wonderful cousins and special friends. She is predeceased by parents Godfrey and Dorothy Ferner, Robert Jensen and Shirley Jensen. The funeral service took place on Tuesday, September 16 at 2:00 pm at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Gull Lake, SK with Father Francis (Prince) Kurisinkal officiating. A private internment service will follow at a later date. In memoriam, donations may be made to the Gull Lake Autumn House Independent Living Facility, P.O. Box 630, Gull Lake, SK, SON 1A0. The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning, that God
was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
