Phyllis Gomm

Gomm, Phyllis May – 88, Truro, passed away peacefully in Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax on Monday, September 15, 2014. Born August 3, 1926 in Edmonton Alberta, she was the daughter of the late Annie Emily (Lavender) and Robert Charles Keats. She married her husband John Ralph Gomm in St. Catherine’s Ontario in 1966 and was married to him for 31 years until his passing in 1997. Phyllis was a strong, kind and gentle soul with a keen sense of humour who cherished her friends, family, caregivers and church. She was a life-long Salvationist who volunteered for and participated in church activities that greatly enhanced her life. Phyllis loved animals, especially cats, and spent many wonderful years with Snoopy, Molly, and Baby. She enjoyed corresponding with her friends and family and could be counted on to send beautiful cards and newsy letters to her caring and supportive circle of family and friends in Nova Scotia and across the country who will miss her immensely. She will be especially missed by her nephews, Mike (Heather) and Dan (Sharon) Praught and their children and grandchildren who spent a lot of time with Phyllis since the loss of her husband. Visitation and reception will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., on Thursday, September 18, followed by the funeral service at 10:15 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Lieutenant Bhreagh Rowe and Lieutenant Daniel Rowe officiating. Interment to follow in Robie Street Cemetery. If desired, memorial gifts to the Salvation Army, Truro would be appreciated.
