Robert Bryon Gardner
June 14, 1933 – September 12, 2014
Friday, Sept 12, 2014, Robert (Bob) passed away after a short battle with lung cancer. He passed at Victoria Hospital with his family by his side. Bob was born and raised on the family farm in Whitfield. He worked off the farm for a short time as a farm hand and he tried his hand in a logging camp. It wasn’t long before he returned to the family farm where he stayed for the remainder of his life. In 1968, he married Helen Mathiason of Crystal Springs, SK. Together they raised three children. Ice fishing, hunting and just fooling around on the farm with family were some of his favorite things. He was also proud to be involved in the 4-H community. He spent his farming career working hard and teaching his family the values that come with working the land and raising livestock. He always welcomed others to help on the farm and would teach them these same values. He embraced nieces, nephews and friends with whom he shared many of life’s lessons. Robert is survived by his wife Helen; his daughter Brenda Smith (Dan Paquette) and their children Wesley and Brendan; his daughter Carolyn (Tim) Earing and their children Ryan, Taylor and Troy; his son Bryon Gardner; his sisters Mavis (Glen) Toll and Glenda (Bill) Kosowan; his brother-in-law Verne Mathiason; his sister-in-law Sharon (Allan) Mathiason; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Alan Gardner; his parents-in-law Wesley and Winnie Mathiason; his son-in-law Darren Smith; his sister Shirley (James) Bennett; his brother Jim (Lillian) Gardner; his brother-in-law Allan Mathiason and his niece Laurie Mathiason. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
