Cynthia McKenzie

McKENZIE, CYNTHIA LOUISE - On Monday, September 15, 2014, Cynthia "Cyndi" McKenzie of Fredericton, NB, entered eternal life while battling cancer with her daughter and sister by her side. Born on October 31, 1956 in Tillsonburg, ON, she was the daughter of James and Patricia (Jenson) Medai. Her spirit is also carried on by her husband, Charlie Johnson, daughter, Ann Marie McKenzie of Brackendale, BC; son, Nathen Crooker of Simcoe ON; step-daughter, Courtney Johnson; step-sons, Tyler and Aaron Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth Clark (Al), Christine Nutbrown (Ron) and Stephanie Lounsbury (Greg); brother, Jim Medai (Jackie); several (great) nieces, (great) nephews and many, many friends. Cyndi enjoyed being outdoors gardening, boating, fishing or just relaxing in the sun. She was an amazing cook and had many great times with loved one’s around the dinner table. All admired her creativity with sewing and crafts, particularly her award-winning homemade Halloween costumes. She loved travelling to tropical destinations with Charlie and their friends, and was always up for a long weekend at a cabin on a lake. Although she enjoyed many things, being with her family was always where her heart was. Her family and friends would describe Cyndi as a strong, independent woman, who was extremely loyal to everyone she loved. Cyndi’s compassion for others was unending and she would help anyone in need. Her title as Administrative Assistant at Pine Grove Nursing Home her did not accurately reflect her role. Cyndi went above and beyond by helping with the gardens, resident family special events, and she loved helping the residents with their mending. She was also a member of Waterford Canadian Legion Branch # 123 and a social member of the Fredericton Loyalist Rugby Club.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm at her home. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Foundation – Palliative Care Unit or Oncology Unit or the Pine Grove Nursing Home – Activity Department. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
