It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marie Winnie Sweetapple announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday September 16, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Born May 27, 1928, in Summerford, Newfoundland, the daughter of the late William and Leah Elliott. Marie was predeceased by her husband Gilbert Sweetapple (December 27, 2012), who she shared more than 66 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Bob Hynes, grandson Robert Hynes, and brothers: Frank, Owen and Otto Elliott. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters: Judy Hynes of Corner Brook, Lorraine Morrall (John) of Calgary, AB; sons: Wayne Sweetapple (Terri) of Calgary, AB, and Brian Sweetapple (Marie) or Corner Brook; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sisters: Marjorie Noseworthy of St. Johns, Jean Herritt (Norm) of Kingston, ONT, and brother-in-law Cyril Sweetapple of Corner Brook, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In keeping with Marie’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday September 19 between the hours of 7-9 p.m. Followed by a private family service, officated by Major Raymond Janes. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
