Myrtle Moore

Myrtle Clarice Moore of Mankota, SK passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the age of 95 years. Myrtle was born on the farm near Admiral, SK, June 7, 1919, to parents John and Anna (nee Berg) Hegland; she was the second youngest of five children. Myrtle was raised on the family farm with her two brothers, Oliver and Lloyd, and two sisters, Helen and Audrey. The family raised cattle, horses, pigs and chicken, and grew all of their own vegetables and fruit. Myrtle attended school until she was 15 years old, and said that her school days and playing ball were some of her best memories. In the winter of 1938, Myrtle met Henry Moore, the love of her life. She was working for a family in town and had spotted Henry at the rink a few times before they were formally introduced. They were married on July 5, 1940, at the Lutheran Church in Shaunavon. They lived in Admiral for a short time after their marriage, and then Hallonquist. They moved back to Admiral in 1944, and resided there until 1955, when they moved to Meyronne. They made their final move in 1968, making their home in Mankota. Myrtle and Henry raised five children, Percy, Donald, Shirley, Linda and Mavis. Myrtle took great pride in raising her children, and was proud of her home. Her door was always open to everyone, and she enjoyed sharing her homemade bread and buns with neighbours. Myrtle and Henry spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking together. Myrtle was a fabulous cook and baker, and large meals for family gatherings were her specialty. She loved to knit, and made many knitted scarecrows for her family. Myrtle always remembered birthdays, and her family could always count on a birthday card and a hand written note. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister and friend, and will be dearly missed. Myrtle is survived by her loving children, Percy (Bernice) Moore, Donald Moore, Shirley Baran, Mavis Moore; grandchildren, Rose (Bert), Todd (Nancy), Trevor (Lindsay), Aislinn (Michael), Dorian; great grandchildren, Michael, Avalon, Rebecca, Rachel, Brianna, Travis, Hayden, Ashton; sister-in-law Mabel Hegland; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in the United States. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Moore (1991); daughter Linda Moore (1964); grandson Kevin Moore (1995); son-in-law Andy Baran (2012); parents, father John Hegland (1940) and mother Anna (nee Berg) (1968); siblings, Oliver (1975), Helen (1966), Audrey (2010), and Lloyd (1996). Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Admiral, SK. The officiant was Pastor Linda Hall. The eulogy was shared by Aislinn Lawreniuk.
