Bertha MacIntosh

MacINTOSH, BERTHA CATHERINE (MORAN) - It is with great sadness that the family of Bertha MacIntosh announce her death at Thomas Hall on September 21, 2014 at the age of 90. Born in Chatham, NB, on January 6, 1924, she was the wife of the late Joseph Arnold MacIntosh of Oromocto. Bertha was the last surviving member of her family. Bertha leaves behind her children, Andrew of Oromocto, Thomas (Mary) of Madrid, Spain, Lorna of New York City, Nancy Cameron (R.B.) of Halifax, NS, Katherine of Clearwater, FL and Clare of Fredericton; grandchildren, Robbie (Erica), Taylor (Luke), Joseph, Christopher, Nina, Zoe and Julia; many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband Joe, Bertha was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary (Dignam) Moran; and siblings, Margaret, Sister Mary David, Florence, David and Charlotte. Bertha was an avid educator and loved teaching. She taught grade six for over 30 years. She graduated Normal School in Fredericton and went back to UNB part time to attain her Bachelor of Education degree while teaching and raising six children. She was a member and past president of the Catholic Women’s League in Oromocto. She loved reading, baking, music, playing cards, crossword puzzles and knitting. She loved going over North (Miramichi) throughout her life and spoke fondly of her home. She was a wonderful mother and friend and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank her care givers, Wendy Bolter and the Staff of Thomas Hall (2nd) for the exceptional care and kindness they gave to Bertha during her final years.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Steet, on Wednesday, September 24th, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, September 25th at 11 am with Fr. Antonio Reyes and Fr. Ken Weir officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. For thoe who wish, donations in Bertha's memory can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
