It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and sister. Mom passed away peacefully at the Trent Valley Lodge, Trenton, Ont. on Aug. 31, 2014 where she was a resident for the past five years.
Born in Minto, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Vanheddegem. Mom spent most of her life on Atlantic Drive, Reserve Mines.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Frank (Dorothy), Joseph (Shirley), Trenton, Ont., Mariette (Donald) Pond, Reserve Mines, Alice (Archie) Chisholm, Antigonish, Calvin (Roxanne) Hibbert, Fort McMurray; sister, Germaine (Tom) Alexander, Trenton, Ont.; sister-in-law, Jean Caume; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a godchild, Linda De Dieu.
Mom was always a loving foster mother to 16 foster children whom she loved and provided a caring loving environment for, she also kept one child, Calvin whom she loved as her own son.
Besides her parents, mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe in 1999; sister, Dolly (Frank) Horcica; nephews, Peter Horcica, Tommie Alexander; two great-grandsons, Herbie and Jarrett Caume, Trenton, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Yvonne (Chiasson) Caume and two brothers in infancy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
A funeral mass officiated by Fr. Dan Boudreau will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Crossing. The reception will take place in the church hall.
