It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Elizabeth Hamilton age 73, of Amherst announce her passing on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at QE II Health Science Centre, VG Site, Halifax, NS.
Born in Indian Mountain, NB she was a daughter of the late George and Nellie (Steeves) Chapman.
Mary enjoyed bingo, Dick’s Jamboree, her dog Mulan and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.
She worked at APSEA-RCHI in Amherst for many years and later owned and operated Class A Sewing with her husband Bob.
When her family was young she was an active volunteer with Minor Hockey, Little League Baseball, Amherst Figure Skating Club and most recently Legacy of Life organ and tissue donation.
Mary is survived by her companion William (Bill) St. Peter, son Paul (Zoe) of Carbonear, NL, daughter Angela Hobbs of Milton, ON, grandchildren Nicholas, Kyle, Dylan and Brett, three sisters Gloria Chapman, Joyce Fraser and Jane Berry all of Amherst, two brothers George “Johnny” (Edith) Chapman and Joe (Elsie) Chapman both of Amherst.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert and infant brother Burton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the Amherst Wesleyan Church with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating.
