NEW GLASGOW – Florence Eva “Flo” Richards, 87, New Glasgow, formerly of Linacy, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Boylston, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late William George and Sarah Jane Desmond. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Flo was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who opened her heart and home to others.
Surviving are daughters, Judy (James) Underwood, Lower Sackville; Joan Dooley, Westville; Mary Jane “Sis” (Gerry) Wilson, Hamilton, Ont.; Kathy (Gary) Dunning, Winnipeg, Man.; sons, Victor (Ann), Mississauga, Ont.; James (Daphne), Calgary, Alta.; Ralph Jr. (Belinda), Eastern Passage; sisters, Margaret “Maggie” Desmond Williams, New Glasgow; brothers, Wilfred (Ardella), James, Linconville; grandchildren, Dennis, Darrell, Dean, Marcelle, Garry, Petra, David, Alexander, Sophia, Travis; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Joseph Gabriel Richards; sisters, Effie, Charlotte, Ann, Gertrude and Emma; brothers, Clarence and Jack; great-granddaughter, Alysia.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Rev. James Underwood officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow. www.pkmacdonald.ca
