With heavy hearts and with her family at her side, we announce the passing of Mélina Arsenault age 87 years, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Thursday, September 25th 2014. Born in Egmont Bay on February 8th, 1927, daughter of the late Jean Pierre and Bella (nee Gallant) Arsenault and wife of the late Ferdinand Arsenault. Mélina is survived by her special friend Laurie Arsenault and loving mother to Marcella (Danny) Adams of St. Raphael, Urbain (Ella) Arsenault of Slemon Park, Albert Arsenault of Toronto and Ivan (Margaret) Arsenault of Summerside. Cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren. She also survived by sisters Marie Arsenault of Montreal, Evangeline Gallant of Wellington, Evelyn Arsenault of Wellington, Thérese Gaudet of Maximeville and Rosie Gallant of Summerside. Besides her parents and husband, Mélina was predeceased by son André, 5 sons in infancy, daughter Florence, sisters Marie Anne Bernard and Madelaine Gallant, brother Alphonse Arsenault, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Due to the ongoing renovations at the Evangeline Coop Funeral Home in Urbainville, she will be resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday September 29th, then to St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday September 28th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Mélina’s memory to the Sommerset Manor Equipment Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
