MOULAISON, M. Joanne – age 73, Abram’s River, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 26, 1941 in Sluice Point, she was a daughter of the late Ludger & Irène (Amirault) Bourque. Joanne was a member of the first graduating class of the Yarmouth School of Nursing, and she went on to have a very successful and rewarding career as a Registered Nurse in the recovery room at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, having also been an instructor at the Yarmouth School of Nursing, all the while caring for her son and her mother. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and walking. She was also very involved in her church and community. She had a very strong Catholic faith and was a member of Les Associées des Filles de Marie-de-l’Assomption, and was a devoted member of Saint Anne’s Parish, where she served as the teacher for La Petite Église, as well as serving as a Eucharistic minister. She also volunteered with the Yarmouth Hospital Hullaballoo, the Kidney Foundation and the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, having also served as a Brownie and Girl Guide leader. She recently received a Volunteer of the Year award from the Municipality of Argyle. Throughout her life, Joanne was a loving and devoted caregiver to countless people in her family, her church, her community and at her place of work, always doing her work humbly and with a beautiful smile. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul Moulaison, as well as by their children, Romona Moulaison (Robert), Yarmouth; Craig (Lora) Moulaison, Lower Eel Brook; Denise (Chris) Surette, Sluice Point, as well as by her loving grandchildren, Megan, Alex, Matthew, Sam, Rejean, Heidi, Donovan, Mason, Fallon and Halle. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Gladys LeBlanc, Wedgeport; Delphis (Bernice) Bourque, London, ON; Flavien (Pauline) Bourque, Surette’s Island; Nathan (Doris) Bourque, Sluice Point; Clarence (Phyllis) Bourque, Kingston, NS; Dianne (Roland) Landry, Amirault’s Hill; Sr. Dolly Bourque, FMA, Campbellton, NB; Bill (Joanne) Bourque, Amirault’s Hill. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Mark Moulaison. Visitation took place on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8:00, both at H. M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 22, at Saint Anne's Church in Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations may be made to The Lodge That Gives.
