Stanley Tompkins, 88 years of age, of Amherst, formerly of Joggins, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Gables Lodge. Born in Riverbank, NB he was a son of the late Edward & Alberta (Brooks) Tomkins.
Stanley was a member and past District Deputy Grand Master of the Hobah Lodge, Joggins, Home and School, a trustee for the local schools, he sat on the board for the D. M. Cochrane Memorial Center.
He will be sadly missed 2 daughters Lisa Tompkins, Red Deer, AB, Andrea (Lawrence Brown) Tompkins, Lower Cove, NS, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchild, 1 sister, Clara Montgomery, Woodstock, NB,
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Simone; sisters Marion Tompkins, Eva Glenn , Verna Wallace and brother John.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (70 Church St. Amherst) where visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2p.m. Burial will take place in the River Hebert Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter or the Joggins United Church.
