WHITTAKER, MARGARET HELEN - It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Helen Whittaker announces her passing which occurred on Wednesday, October 1st 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Maggie was born on April 03, 1945 in Saint John to the late Evelyn (Garland) Lynch and Joseph McKenna. Maggie worked the majority of her life in the Hospitality Industry. She was a kind lady who was filled with compassion. We will always remember mom for her fun, loving and strong willed personality. She was always able to bring everyone a laugh. Maggie will be missed by everyone she's touched in her life. Maggie is survived by her son Kevin of Saint John, daughters; Brenda (Dave) and Barbara (Russell) of Saint John, brother; Martin of Ontario and two sisters; Joanne Trites and Rochelle McKenna of Saint John. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Maggie will be missed dearly by special long time friend Audrey Day. Besides her parents, Maggie was predeceased by her brother Bernard. The family would like to thank the staff of the 3BN Palliative Care department at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion shown towards Mom.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Although there will be no formal visitation or funeral, there will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 4 at 10:30 AM at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Maggie's life will follow at the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mom can be made towards the Canadian Lung Association.
