Glenys Rowe

ROWE, GLENYS BERYL - Glenys Rowe passed away peacefully in Rothesay on 26 September, 2014, with her family beside her. Born in Bangor, North Wales, in 1919, Mrs. Rowe moved to Rothesay in 2007 to be near her daughter and family, after 45 years in Dundonald, Scotland. While always thinking of Morriston, Swansea, South Wales as her homeland, Glenys had also lived in England before moving north to Scotland with her young family in the 1960s. Throughout her long life, Glenys had an extraordinary ability to make and keep warm friendships. She never lost her ready smile, quick wit and sense of humour. Glenys is survived by her sister Mairwen of Morriston; son David (Val) Rowe of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, England; daughter Helen (Don Shepherd) of Rothesay; grandsons Gareth, Jonathan, Nicholas and Rory; and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Wales and England. She was predeceased by husband Trevor and sisters Eirlys and Ceridwen. Thanks to Doctors Holloway, Hobbs, and Wildish, and Extra-Mural Nursing, for their kind and generous assistance enabling Glenys to remain at home – in over 95 years, her only hospital stay was for the birth of her son in 1949. Particular thanks to Cathy McHugh for her dedicated help, care and friendship.
The funeral will be held at Saint David’s United Church, Rothesay on 9th October, 2014 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint David’s United Church fund; Canadian Red Cross fund for West Africa Ebola relief; or, other charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). www.BrenansFH.com
