BROADWAY – Eva May Dean, 60, Broadway, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 3, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Douglas Ray and Emma Philomena (Gomm) O’Laney. A member of Barney’s River Presbyterian Church, Kenzieville, she was a kind and caring lady who lovingly raised four children with her husband, Bob. Eva enjoyed camping, gardening and feeding her birds. She enjoyed crafts and sewing, and shared her passion with the local 4-H club for many years. Eva will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend by all who loved her.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Robert Ira “Bob” Dean; daughters, Kelly Dean McVicar, Westville; Mandy (Eric) Dewar, Marshy Hope; Robin Dean (Kevin), Kenzieville; son, Danial Dean (Tammy), Egerton; grandchildren, JohnAlan, Brooke, Jordan, Colby, Oakley, Nathaniel, Connor and Kristen; sisters, Theresa (Carl) MacLeod, Avondale; Dot (George) Simms, Kenzieville; Faith (Rodger) Manuel, Windsor, Ont.; Kathy (Roy) Rogers, Hamilton, Ont.; Denise (Eddie) Freeman, Trenton; Darlene (Clint) MacDonald, Truro; brothers, Dan (Sharon) Praught, Greenwood; Doug (Freda) O’Laney, Kenzieville; Bill (Jenny) O’Laney, Lower Barneys River; David (Karen) O’Laney, Westville; Charlie (Patsy) O’Laney, MacLellan’s Brook; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by nephews, James Freeman, Michael and Mark MacLeod.
In honour of Eva’s wishes a private celebration of her life will be held.
