Annie ‘Christena’ Murray, 76 of Sydney Mines passed away Oct. 4, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late George and Julia (Brown) White.
Christena was an independent person, who had a marvelous sense of humour. She spent many days fishing and also enjoyed the same five km-walk daily through Sydney Mines. Over the past year she was able to reveal and express her beautiful side to her family and close friends. She found her hidden talent later in life and created some amazing paintings.
She is survived by daughters, Glenda McKee, North Sydney and Wanda (Bruce) Edwards, Ontario; granddaughters, Theresa McKee (Glen) and Tammy McKee (Chris); great-grandchildren, Joey, Brady, Nevaeh and Wendie; an aunt, Evelyn Rankin, Florence and the best friend anyone could have, Madonna Romeo, Sydney Mines.
Christena was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert Murray, son-in-law, David McKee and grandson, David McKee.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7 and funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, both at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. Pastor Charmaine James will officiate. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
