It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary Rosalie Patterson, 93, formerly of New Minas, on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Shannex-Orchard Court, Kentville (Mary and Bev's 67th wedding anniversary). Born in Upper Gaspereau, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ella (Card) Jordan. Growing up in Newtonville, Kings County, she attended public school. In her earlier years, she had been employed with Acadia University. She was then employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Leslie Eaton and Dr. John Eaton until 1947 when she married her husband, Bev Patterson. They moved to Annapolis Royal, where he was employed with the Canada Agriculture Entomological Laboratory. A member of the New Minas Baptist Church, where in earlier years, she was active in various areas, which included teaching Sunday school. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bev; a daughter, Anne (Bryson) Eye, Greenwich; two sons, Michael (Janet), Riverview, New Brunswick; Gregory (Susan), Dartmouth; a daughter-in-law, Shirley, Dartmouth; a sister, Greta Levy, Kentville; a brother, David (Emelie), Wolfville; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Heather, Michelle, Marianne, Matthew, Joshua, Zachery and Ian; five great grandchildren, Claire, Nathaniel, Georgia, Charles and Jackson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Garth; five sisters, Hazel Rathbone, Lottie Messom, Edith Levy, Pauline Price and Florence Wile; a brother, Joseph Jordan. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Cancer Research Society, the New Minas Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
