RICHARD, LUCIENNE (GALLANT) - (1924 - 2014) - SAINT-LOUIS-DE-KENT, N.B.- Lucienne Richard, 90, passed away peacefully at La Villa Maria, October 03, 2014, with her family by her side. Born at home in Saint-Louis, she was the daughter of the late Crispin Gallant and Délima (Maillet) Gallant. Lucienne was inspired by the natural world. She used her natural artistic and creative talents to transform the landscape around her into favorite special places to pray and meditate. She was very involved in her community; whether it was volunteering for the many hours of work at the grotto, or with the choir, or making costumes and decorations, she loved people and was committed to making things beautiful. She also gave sewing courses and advice on planting and organic gardening to beginners and seasoned growers alike, but her main passion was her immediate and extended family. A natural nurturer, she was deeply involved and interested in anything that touched on family; she loved to give and loved to see people happy. Lucienne will be sadly missed by daughter; Nicole (Mike) of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, five sons; Gaston of Richibucto, Jean-Nil of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Michel (Janice) of Aldouane, Martial (Shelley) of Fall River, Nova Scotia, Serge (Danielle) of Kedgwick and eight grandchildren, Mélanie, Suzanne, Geneviève, Jean-Réné, Marc, Daniel, Monique and Mara.
She is survived by two sisters - Frieda Gallant of Montreal and Jeannette Poirier of Saint-Louis; two brothers, Théodule and Louis-Emile, from Saint-Louis; and by several nieces and nephews. Lucienne is predeceased by her husband, Vital, her parents and five brothers - Saturnin, René, Cyprien, Edgar, Joe; three sisters- Ernestine, Alma, and Florence and three other siblings who died at a young age.
Lucienne will rest at Thompson Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent where visitations will be held on Tuesday, October 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, October 8 starting at 9:00 am. At 11:00 am, a funeral mass will be held at St.-Louis des Français Roman Catholic Church, Saint-Louis-de-Kent. If so desired, donations may be made to ‘La Grotte Saint-Louis’.
