Raymond Yorke

YORKE, RAYMOND EDWARD - It is with much sadness that the family announces the passing of their dear father, Raymond Edward Yorke on October 6, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Nova Scotia on May 28, 1931 the son of the late Vernon and Amelia (Parker) Yorke, he was a life long resident of Saint John, summering in Waldec, NS. He was Co-Owner of Lloyd R. Mawhinney Ltd., a master plumber by trade and spent time in the Army Reserves in his younger years. He was a member of the Moss Glen Legion and Master Plumbers Association of Canada. Fishing trips with his sons brought him much joy. Building furniture in his woodshop in winter and growing vegetables and flowers at his summer cottage filled his retirement years. He is survived by his children, Gail Wright (David) of Rothesay, Louise Mallette (Peter) of Tignish, PE, Larry (Susan Williams) of Carters Point and Vaughn of Saint John; grandchildren, Sarah (Chisholm) Mallette of ON, Christine and Brent Wright of AB, Ron Estey of NB; a great-grandson, Hunter Estey; a sister, Muriel Koopmans; and a brother, Victor Yorke. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Edward Yorke; the mother of his children, Iris (Mawhinney) Yorke; and a brother Eustice “Yorkie”. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the wonderful nursing staff of 5CS, and 3BN who took great care of their Dad.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Maces Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
