Frank was born on August 7, 1915 to Nicholas and Mary Gartner in Vibank, SK and grew up in Kendal, SK where he attended school. He joined the Army and served his country from 1942-1946. Following his return home, he married Othelle Schuett, working in the family business for about 5 years before starting his own General Store in Candiac, SK which they operated for over 30 years while raising their 9 children. Frank and Othelle moved to Moose Jaw in 1984, enjoying 10 years of retirement until Othelle’s passing in 1994. Frank enjoyed watching baseball games, tending to his home and vegetable garden, or reading a good book, but he particularly enjoyed spending time with friends and family while fishing on Mission Lake or at Buffalo Pound. He remained a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church until health concerns prevented him from regular attendance. He did, however remain in his own home and continued to enjoy his yard and garden until his passing.
