Surrounded by her loving family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, Yvette Judith (nee Gallant) Cormier died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at the age of 86 years. Formerly from St. Philippe, she resided at Le Chez-Nous Ltd., Wellington. Born on August 21, 1928, in Abram’s Village, daughter of the late Hector and Marie Jeanne Geneviene (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Beloved wife of Alyre Francois Cormier. Yvette is survived by her children: Jeannine (Chris) Rushton of Moncton, Paul Cormier of Charlottetown, Melvin Cormier of Vancouver, Eunice (Paul) Kennedy of Lot 16, Donald (Amanda) Cormier of St. Hubert, and Michel (Tammy) Cormier of Summerside. Survived by one sister Laurette Gallant of Quebec. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Jelisa, Bailey, Hannah, Samantha, Matthew, Joshua and Martina. Predeceased by her parents, son Simon, brothers Gérard, Théodore, Alcide, sisters Thérèse and Geralda. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Monday, Oct. 13, then to St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Yvette’s memory to the P.E.I. Canadian Paraplegic Association, Le Chez-Nous Ltd. or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
