It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Helen Stevens, on Oct. 7, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she is the daughter of the late Harold and Leah (Hines) Lordly.
Helen was a member of the Sydney River United Church, and the UCWL. She enjoyed crocheting and tending to her husband, working in her garden and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Lawrence Stevens, daughter, Laura (Mike) MacDonald; son, Lawrence (Lourinda) Stevens; stepdaughter, Sandy (Don) Stevens-Birch; siblings, Elizabeth'Betty' Sommers, Mary- Lou Van Den Broek, Eric (Mildred) Lordly and Winston (Donna) Lordly. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael, Judy, Shaun, and Kylah, and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Logan.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Josephine and her nephew, Peter Van Den Broek.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10-11 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Reception to follow. Burial in Hardwood Hill Cemetery will take place at 2 p.m.
