Anthony Raphael Wadden

Wadden, Anthony Raphael, 79, Bible Hill, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Glace Bay, NS he was a son of the late Anthony and Ada (Locke) Wadden. Anthony loved the outdoors and also loved to hunt and fish. He grew up in a fishing village on Scatterie Island, Man-A-Dieu, Cape Breton. He started out in the grocery industry where he later met his wife of 62 years Esther. Later their journeys took them to Toronto, ON where he worked in the floor industry with his brothers. Anthony and Esther returned to Truro, NS with their four children where he continued in the floor industry and later became owner and operator of Wadden Floor Fashion. He later became an Insurance Agent for London Life until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife the former Esther MacLeod; daughters Jean Marie of Whitehorse, Yukon, Sandi of Orilla, ON, Pamela of Truro, Paula (Glenn Willis) of Dartmouth; grandchildren Daphni, Katrina (James Lynch), Nick, George; great-granddaughter Kasandra Sky; brothers James Wadden of Sydney, Cape Breton, Michael Wadden of Innisfil, ON; sisters Alice Hermack of Newmarket, ON, Shirley Pecevnick of Newmarket, ON, Jean Ogley of Newmarket, ON, Irma Miller of Innisfil, ON, Isabelle Long of Brooklin, ON, Patricia MacKinnon of Newmarket, ON, Mary Westfall of Angola, Indiana, USA.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter Sonja Lee Anne; brothers Raymond, Fabian, Douglas; sisters Mary, Lillian.
Visitation will take place on Saturday from 1-2 pm followed by funeral service at 2 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Hospice Society.
