GOULD, GERALDINE - Geraldine Gould, 89, of Moncton, passed peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Cocagne on September 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Albénie and Victorine (Desprès) Bourque and the loving wife of the late Donald F. Gould. Géraldine raised her seven children with unwavering love. At home she was the rock of the family, whose love held us all together. A wonderful, innovative cook and a connoisseur of food, she embraced the best the world had to offer. Géraldine was an elegant lady with a flair for fashion, who enjoyed gardening, swimming and family card games of 200. Throughout her life she was an avid and spontaneous traveller, who welcomed new experiences. She always believed things would work out for the best and that laughter is the best medicine. This positive outlook helped her move past life’s challenges.
Géraldine is survived by her five children: Greg (Nicola) of Winnipeg, Donna (Ron Landry) of Montreal, Suzanne (Jim Donovan) of Halifax, Ginette (Martin Hannah) of London, England and Danielle (Denis Bourassa) of Montreal; 13 grandchildren: Luke (Lori), Stefan, Natalie, Maxime (Nadia), Véronique, Alexandre (Meliane), Eric (Martine), Andrew, Emilie (Mark), Michael, Frederic, François and Philippe; five great-grandchildren: Jerome, Xavier, Eva, Anna and Aidan; two sisters: Rita Malenfant (Joseph) and Maria Chiasson (Ernest), both of Moncton; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald (1999); two sons: Francis and Michel; one granddaughter, Stéphanie; one grandson, Francis; six brothers: François, Paul (Anita), Joseph, Edmond, Euclide (Germaine), and an infant brother Edmond.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, 220 St. George Street, Moncton, on Monday October 13, 2014 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at the funeral centre. In memory of Géraldine, flowers or a donation to a charity of your choice are welcome.
