May 15, 1964 - October 9, 2014. In the early hours of October 9th, Jael spent his last breath and chose to continue his fight with MS in the unknown arena of the great beyond. In keeping with his wishes, he lived out his life in the comfort of his tranquil home in Upper Gullies. John had a quick wit, a sharp tongue, a fast and punishing right hook, a fierce heart and a deep soul. He was a man of unflinching courage and determination. His resolve in the face of extraordinary adversity was a source of inspiration and awe to the many people who knew him or knew of him. He was loved and admired by many, including his parents, William and Lorraine Lush, his siblings Helene, Debbie Squires, Susan Hiscock, Joanne Barnable, Bill, Stephen and Eileen Esco, his 4 in-laws Gary, Paul, Paul and Mariève, 21 nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, dear to his heart was his long time friend Mary Sexton, her son Nik and their family, whom John loved as his own. John's life was enriched by a countless number of dear friends, too many to mention. Throughout his illness, John received loving support from a devoted staff of home care workers. Their contribution to his life cannot be overstated and was an ongoing source of comfort to his family. Special thanks to Dr. Bryar Smith, Dr. Lisa Barnes and Kathy-Anne Butt, RN. Visitation at Caul's funeral home, LeMarchant Rd, Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6-9pm and Sunday October 12, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to take place at Caul's Chapel on Monday, October 13 at 9:30am.
