It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Donald ‘Donnie’ Neil MacLeod on Oct. 10, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Neil and Margaret (Redquest) MacLeod.
Donnie was the pillar of our family, the rock that we all adored and depended on. He was smart, strong and a hard-working man, who always had time for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was employed for over 30 years in the maintenance department at St. Rita’s Hospital, Sydney. He was a member of St. Joseph’s parish.
He leaves behind to mourn his wife and best friend, Linda (Ronayne); his adoring grandchildren, Natasha MacLeod, Glenn MacLeod, Nicole Tutty (Johnathan MacKinnon) and Nicholas Tutty; great-grandson, Damien MacKinnon; stepchildren, Hughina and Cecil Jr.; and step-granchildren,nephew, Tony MacFadden; niece, Cathy Green; cousins, Serena MacNeill, Gregory MacLeod, Greg and Ernie Redquest; his four-legged kids, Boots and Grace.
Donnie was predeceased by sister, Mary MacFadden, his first wife, Maude MacIntyre, and daughter, Donna Marie Tutty.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Sydney, Rev Bill Burke will officiate. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
