It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Calvin Walter Jesty, on October 5, 2014. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Campbell) Jesty. Cal is survived by his children, daughter Brandy (Rob) Thomas, son Jason and their mother, Paulette all of Corner Brook, NL; by his sisters, Dale (Ches) Carter, Dartmouth, Tyra (Robert) Gilbert, Barrie, ON, step-sisters, Jane (Fred) Wallace, NL., Sharon (Skip) Quinten, ON; step-brother Wayne (Louise) Warren, Sydney; sister-in-law, Rosalind (Wayne) Pinsent, brothers-in-law, John (Catherine) Davis, Gregg Davis, all of Corner Brook, NL and Geoff (Maureen) Davis, Ottawa, ON. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and a large circle of friends and co-workers. Cal was predeceased by his parents, his brother Campbell “Cam” Jesty, sister-in-law Diane, sister, Lois Jesty, his step- mother, Eileen Jesty, mother and father-in-law, Ken and Ethel Davis and several aunts and uncles. Cal was a retired, devoted member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 33 years. His first posting was to Newfoundland where he met his wife Paulette and quickly became a beloved member of his second family. Cal loved Newfoundland and it became his home for over 30 years. An avid outdoorsman, Cal loved to hunt, explore abandoned properties and to quietly walk in the woods listening and feeling all it has to offer. Cal spent much time with his best friend and father-in-law, Ken Davis, camping, hunting and just sitting and talking in front of a fire. In keeping with Cal’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Ralph Johnston officiating.
