Peter Isaac Hashem, age 92 of 97 Green Meadows Dr., formerly of Sheriff Avenue, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
A lifelong resident of Sydney, he was born in Sydney, the son of the late Isaac and Bessie (Hashem) Hashem.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish and former member of St. Theresa’s parish. Peter was also a 4th Degree member of the KOC and the St. Joseph Lebanese and Syrian Benevolent Society. He was employed for 43 years with the CNR in the car control department and was active in the CN Pensioners Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie (Abbass); a sister. Katherine Caselli of Florida and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary and Theresa and by his brother, Paul.
Visitation will be held for Mr. Hashem today (Thursday) from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Revs. Frank Abbass and Dwayne Devereaux, Jobe Abbass and Paul Abbass officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
