ROZEE, Donald Edward Bowman – age 82, born July 27, 1932 in Yarmouth, NS. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the loss of our father, Don Rozee who passed away peacefully on October 19, 2014. Don married the love of his life Barbara Margret Scoville (deceased) in June 1954 and together they built a beautiful family with five children, Peter (Deborah), Wendy (Ryan), Jeffrey (deceased), David (deceased) and Jill (Tim). He was especially fond of his 13 grandchildren and 8 great grand children. Dad was a storyteller and a social butterfly. You could always find him enjoying a coffee on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with a great bunch of friends. He was very well known in the community whether from his days as a meat cutter, at the Vocational School (NSCC) or his many volunteer positions. Dad kept a journal for decades that would make Oprah jealous; he wrote about the weather, world events or just what he had for breakfast, it is all there. He had a sweet tooth, or two, and never turned down dessert. In fact in the later years, he chose to eat his dessert before his supper. One of his greatest accomplishments and joys in life was the cottage he and Mom built at Bell Lake. It was there they made many memories and shared an abundance of time with friends and family. Our hearts are broken, he fought hard, but his need to be with Mom was greater. The family would like to thank Roseanne and the staff at Vancouver Place, where dad lived for the last year, for being his second family, The VON nurses for the continued care they provided, Dr. Roland Muise and the nurses on 4 North for the exceptional care and kindness they showed dad during his last days. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. from Yarmouth North Baptist Church, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Yarmouth Branch of the VON. Online condolences can be made to the family at sweenysfh@eastlink.ca.
