BIRD, LEAH MARION - Leah Marion Bird, 98, of Lakeville, Westmorland Co., died peacefully and with grace, with her family by her side, at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 20, 2014. Born in Evandale, she was the daughter of the late H. Faulds and Jessie Mae (Brundage) Jones. Marion was a retired Registered Nurse with 41 years’ service and was the unofficial village nurse. She was a member of Lakeville United Church, former secretary of the “Golden Dears” Club, former church organist and Elder and was a lifetime member of the U.C.W. Her hobbies included sewing – she made bridal gowns for her daughters and granddaughters - knitting, baking and gardening. Marion will be sadly missed by her daughters, Dorothy Jean Hill (Bob) of Elgin, Beverley Leah Street (William) of Margaretsville, NS and Lisa Margaret Underhill (John) of Lakeville, Westmorland Co.; daughter-in-law, Margaret Bird and son-in-law, Allen Garrett; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Jones (late Mary) of Evandale; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Glenn Bird (1986); daughter, Eloise Ann Garrett (1990) and son, Douglas Allan Bird (1994).
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date.
