COOMBS, WILLIAM ANTHONY - With heavy hearts, the family of William Anthony “Tony” Coombs, a life-long resident of West Saint John, announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on July 12, 1955, he is the son of Barbara (Kearney) and the late Cecil Coombs and loving husband to Norma (Oliver) Coombs. Tony was a very kind, generous and easy-going man. He was loved by many and enjoyed playing pool and cards with his friends. Following his retirement from Irving Pulp & Paper, Tony enjoyed spending time with his grand-children and family. Taken much too soon, Tony will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Norma, Tony is survived by his mother Barbara, son Warren Coombs (Dr. Robin Clouston) and daughter Kristen Murphy (Conan), both of Saint John, NB; brother Albert Coombs (Barbara) of Nelson, BC; grand-children Oliver and Bobby Murphy, and several nieces and nephews. Tony was pre-deceased by his father Cecil.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row on Monday, October 27, 2014 at noon. A private family interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Palliative Care, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
