Margaret Crawford

CRAWFORD, MARGARET - It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Susan Crawford of Blackville, NB announce her passing at the Miramichi Hospital on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Margaret was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Underwood) Crawford. She is survived by her siblings, Katherine Crawford, Carolyn (Bruce) Atkinson and George (Elaine) Crawford all of Fredericton, N.B. Also survived by several nieces and nephews , great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers John , Wilson and Hugh as well as sisters-in-law Jeanette and Sadie. Margaret lived all her life in the home were she was born and dedicated her life to caring for her aging parents and her brother Hugh. She was an avid reader, loved to garden, a great cook and a wonderful homemaker. Visitors were always greeted with a warm cup of tea and freshly made bake goods. She was a caring friend to nature especially the birds and small animals that would visit her home and her special lupin-filled hill behind her home. Her special friend was the neighbour’s old black lab, Max , who visited her everyday and who stood guard on her back doorstep. Although she didn't travel far, she kept up-to-date on world events and politics, having an opinion on both. Margaret’s family would like to thank the nursing and medical staff at the Miramichi Hospital for their care, also her family physician, Dr.Chou of Doaktown. We are indebted to all of her dedicated caregivers, Pat, Shirley, Mary Lou, Germaine, Jeannette, Glenna and especially grateful for Glenna’s love and spiritual nurturing during Margaret’s final days.
There will be a graveyard Service held for family and friends at St. Andrew’s United Church, Blackville, on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Reverend Charlotte Youland will officiate. A reception will follow at the church hall. Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. and crematorium (339-6612). www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
