RIDEOUT, EILEEN - The passing of Dorothy Eileen Rideout of Fredericton, widow of the late Eugene Rideout, occurred Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the age of 91. Born at Brookville, Carleton Co., NB, she was a daughter of the late Ervine and Vera (Kirkbride) Tompkins. Eileen was a faithful member of St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, Fredericton. She was a member of the church CWL and St. Dunstan’s Quilters. She worked for the Federal Government Department of Health and Welfare (now known as Dept. of Human Resources) for 20 years. Eileen is survived by a daughter, Anne Marie McCallum (Russell) of Ottawa, and a son Paul Rideout of Fredericton. Eileen was very proud of her six grandchildren, Anthony, Joshua and Dakota Rideout all of BC, Andrew (Renee) McCallum of Ottawa and Robyn (Tyler) McCallum of Surrey, BC and Lisa Gates of Fredericton; great-grandchildren, Kim, Amanda, Anthony, Thomas and Katherine; great-great-grandsons, Cash and Jaxon. Besides her parents and husband, Eileen was predeceased by a brother Atthyl Tompkins and a sister Juanita Thomas.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Thursday evening, October 30 from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, on Friday, October 31 at 12:05 PM with Rev. Bill Brennan as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Hermitage Cemetery.
