It is with much sadness the families of Edward M. O’Quinn announce his sudden passing on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at the age of 75. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his second wife Triff (nee Adams) and her children: Leona (Paul Taylor), Tanya Reid (Paul); grandchildren: Kyle, Sarah, James, Sheldon (Krista) and great- grandchildren Hayden and Macie. He leaves cherished childhood memories for his four children: Todd O’Quinn, Corner Brook, Terry (Jamnong) O’Quinn, Ontario, Judy O’Quinn, Massey Drive, and Tracey (Darren) Moore, St. John’s and their mother Lorraine Morey; grandchildren: Julia, Emily, Nicholas, Ethan and step granddaughter Sydney. Survived by three brothers: Carl, Corner Brook, Ron (Heidi), Ontario, Wayne (Nancy), Ontario; his seven sisters: Odell Healey, Boston, MA, Jeanette Doran, Torbay, NL, Eva Duffy, Port Au Port, NL, Caroline O’Quinn, Ontario, Barbara (Dan) Chan, Ontario, Joan Nichol, Ontario, Monica (Bob) Bungay, St. Andrews, NL; sisters and brothers-in-law: Kay O’Quinn, Codroy Valley, NL, Gerry (Joanne) Adams, St. John’s, Evelyn and Larry Hann, St. John’s, Rowena Galway, St. John’s, Leamon and Emily Adams, Labrador City, Charlie and Elzine Ellsworth, Englee, Olive and Ralph Cassell, Clara and Simon Canning, Dorman and Denise Adams, Jasper and Betty Adams and May Adams, all of Roddickton, NL. He will also be sadly missed by a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Ed was born in Searston, Codroy Valley to the late John Martin and Rose (nee MacNeil) O’Quinn. He was predeceased by his brothers Theodore and Benedict (Dick), and twin infant siblings, brothers-in-law: Paul Healey, Steve Doran, Neil Duffy, Kevin Galway, Jim Adams, and sister in-law Ruby O’Quinn. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed competition, everything from playing cards to many different sports. He was well known as a long time hockey player with the Corner Brook Royals, with them for four Herder Memorial Trophys in the 1960’s. He was inducted into the NL Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. In keeping with Edward’s wishes, cremation has taken place with interment at a later date. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue, Corner Brook, officiated by Father Edward Terry. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation towards a prosthetic leg for his step grandson, Kyle Taylor age 20 years, required as a result of a tragic accident in Alberta.
