Theodore Elmer Lynds

Lynds, Theodore Elmer, “Elmer”, 78, Truro, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the QE II, Halifax Infirmary Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Ira B. and Nellie (Smith) Lynds. Elmer was a member of the Brunswick Street United Church, Truro. In his early years he worked with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a Telegraph Operator. In 1956, he began his career with the Canadian National Railway as a Brakeman and later a Conductor. He retired in 1990 after 34 years of service from the C.N.R. in the Engineering Department.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Delores (Murphy) Lynds; son Mark of Truro; daughters Denise Smith (Ken) of Truro, Cindy Nolan (John) of Truro; grandchildren Nichole, Mitchell, Matthew, Blair, Jillian, all of Truro; sister Hazel Hamilton of Truro.
Besides his parents, Elmer was predeceased by a sister Alva in infancy; brothers Merlin, Ronald, Gordon.
No visitation by family request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A private family only graveside service will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 28th at 11:00 am in Watson Cemetery, Truro, with Rev. John Parsons officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Brunswick Street United Church, Truro, NS.
