O’LEARY, SARAH MADELINE - 1927 - 2014 - Sarah Madeline O’Leary, wife of the late James Lawrence “Larry” O’Leary, passed away peacefully at Kennebec Manor Nursing Home on October 26, 2014, with her family by her side. Madeline was born on May 29, 1927 to the late Patrick A. Rooney and Sarah Gallagher. Madeline attended Saint John Vocational School and graduated in 1945. She married James Lawrence (Larry) O’Leary on September 19, 1950. Madeline worked for the Saint John Power Commission after her graduation. After raising her family, Madeline returned to the workforce in the Claims Department at The Cooperators. Madeline remained a lifelong resident of the north end and a faithful member of St. Peter’s Parish. Madeline is survived by her sons, Michael (Brenda Harris) and their children Kristen (Corey Carr) and Brendan; Patrick (Lynn Pitt) and their children Sheri Fowler (Neal) and Jeffrey (Kate); two great-grandchildren, Emily and Ben Fowler and several nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by her siblings: Joseph, Gerard, Edward, Louis, George, Daniel, William, Thomas and Mary, as well as a granddaughter, Melanie Dawn O’Leary.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
