Peggy Ann (Schofield) Reid - 74, of New Minas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late James and Hilda (Zwicker) Schofield. She is survived by her brother, Paul Schofield (Cheryl MacGregor), Beersville, NB; her four children, Heather Reid (Lawson Millett), Coldbrook; Theresa Reid (Ken Blanchard), Centreville; Ian (Marian) Reid, North Alton and Lori (Jeff) Keizer, Coldbrook; five grandchildren, Ashley McLean (Arne Todd), Matthew (Jemma) McLean, John Reid, Jenna and Keeley Keizer and three great-grandchildren; Emma and Jake Reeves and Mattie McLean. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, James Alexander Reid; a brother, Alton Schofield; a sister, Paulette Legault and an infant granddaughter, Carleen Reid. Peggy worked for several years as a PCW at the former Palmeter's Nursing Home, (now Evergreen Home for Special Care), Kentville. Through Jim's many military postings he and Peggy got to see much of Canada, as well as Germany, and enjoyed a special vacation in Hawaii. Peggy was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. She was an avid Bingo player, never missing a Wednesday evening at the Meadowview Community Centre to connect with her many friends and former neighbors. Most evenings you would find Peggy visiting one of her children and their families, followed by a cup of tea with her dear friend, Barb Sherman. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with a Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary service held at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Meadowview Community Centre or to a charity of your choice.
