GILLIES, FRANCES - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, gramma-great and sister, Frances Alberta (Bishop) (Dunham) Gillies on October 27, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hillgrove, NB to Nettie (Cain) and Whitfield Bishop. Frances was a housewife, owner of Dunham’s Nursing Home, a member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church and a past member of the Regina Chapter of Eastern Star. Frances is survived by her son Gerald (Ann) Dunham of Havelock; her grandchildren: Timothy of Toronto, Sheena of Carleton Place, Jeffery of London and Susan (Chris Spilman) of Hammond Plains; great-grandchildren: Ashlyn and Anna Graham and Caleb and Elyssa Spilman; her daughter Judy Morton (John) of Petitcodiac; grandchildren: Andrea (Dyson) Jones of Sussex Corner, Brent of Petitcodiac and Peter (Nadine) of Dutch Settlement, NS; great-grandchildren: Jordan Stopciati of Kingston, Brady, Julianna, Kristian and Gabriel Jones, Sawyer and Sulivan Morton; five step-sons: Leslie Gillies of Moncton, Lloyd Gillies (Joan) of Portagevale, Ray Gillies (Donna) of Salisbury, Rae Gillies (Carole) and Don Gillies (Pat) all of Petitcodiac; one sister Margaret Balzer of Petitcodiac, and one brother Bertram Bishop of Jordan Lifecare Centre. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Dunham in 1968, her second husband Errol Gillies in 1981; her sisters: Lillian Hill, Kathryn Pellegrino, Sadie Sprague, and Eleanor Lewis; her brothers: Fay, Maurice, Rupert and Kenneth Bishop.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac (506-756-3361) from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 6 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Petitcodiac Baptist Church with Rev. David Woodworth presiding. Interment will be held in the Maplewood Cemetery. Donations to the Petitcodiac Baptist Church or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to extend special thanks to caregiver Shirley Tingley, Extra-Mural Nurses Sylvia and Rhonda, and to Dr. Rick Morton for making it possible for her to remain at home.
