It is with deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Mary 'Babe' McDonald, on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in South Bar in 1924, Babe was the daughter of the late Mayme MacNeil and stepfather Bill Cusack.
Nana will be remembered as a very kind, gentle and quiet woman who loved her family. She was an avid Blue Jays fan and a gifted seamstress who particularly loved dancing and skating. She was a longtime member of Mount Carmel parish, currently the Parish of St. Leonard.
Besides her parents, Nana was predeceased by her husband, D.H. "DuddieMan" McDonald and her son, Gary.
She will be sadly missed by her son Archie, daughters-in-law, Wendy and Sharyn, as well as her pride and joy, her five grandchildren, Carlton (Deanna) McDonald, Steven 'Kozzy' (Amy) McDonald, Alexis (Marc) Lamarche, Brennan and Kaleigh McDonald and her great-grandchildren, Gary, Thomas, Cohen, Marli, Cassie and Luc.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, 3180 Mount Carmel Ave., New Waterford with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Following interment, all are invited to join the family for a reception in St. Leonard’s Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
