Sister Jean Leier (Sister Saint-Jean-Dominique), of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the age of 75 in the Provincial House Infirmary at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK. The Vigil of Prayer will be held from the Provincial House Chapel on Sunday November 2 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from the Provincial House Chapel on Monday November 3 at 10:30 a.m. by Bishop Albert Thévenot. Sister Jean was born on March 30, 1939 in Mildred, SK. She spent the early years of her life with her family, on the farm near Mildred. Sister Jean loved working on the farm with her father. The experience gained in dealing with farm machinery and vehicles served her well in later years. In 1960, Sister Jean joined the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. The following years were filled with a variety of challenging responsibilities: a teacher at the APM Academy in Prince Albert SK, in The Pas and Laurier MB, then principal at St Mark School in Prince Albert. Afterwards, she served as local Treasurer, Driver Education instructor of Rivier Academy, manager of Marion Aquatics and Department Head of Maintenance. She was often called upon as a “troubleshooter”, when anything broke down and she always found a solution! During her short stay in the Infirmary, she exhibited graciousness and gratitude. She will be remembered for her compassion, for her loyalty to the Community, for her desire to run an efficient and enjoyable complex at Marion Aquatics, where one could find a listening ear in times of need. Everyone will remember her PR in business. She loved God, loved her community, loved the people and the people loved her. She will be greatly missed! Sister Jean leaves to mourn the Members of her Religious Congregation; two sisters Isabel and Marie; a sister-in-law Pearl Mackay; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Lena (Bleishwitz) Leier; three sisters and four brothers-in-law Katherine (Robert Parent), Elsie (David) Porter, Grace, Abe Sandberg and Walter Tarapacki; two brothers and one sister-in-law Edward (Edith Price) and Carl. Cremation will take place after the funeral mass with interment of cremated remains to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5 in the Sisters’ Section, South Hill Cemetery. Moriarty, Funeral Directors
