Joyce MacDonald

Joyce Marie MacDonald passed away peacefully October 31, 2014 in Northwood Centre, Halifax.
Born in New Glasgow, NS on May 11, 1942, she was the youngest of seven children to the late Matthew and Mary (Fraser) Cooke.
Joyce loved country and western music, playing bingo, bowling and socializing where she was instantly recognized for her unique laugh and big smile. She loved spending time in her flower beds and most of all spending time with her family. Joyce’s day was always brightened by a visit from her children and grandson. She will always be a source of pride, inspiration and courage for her family.
She is survived by sons, Larry and Randy; daughter, Rhonda (Michael) Fillmore; grandson, Matthew; sisters: Lois Cahoon, Anne Melanson, Catherine (Garfield) Halland; a brother, Allan (Ann) Cooke; sisters-in-law, Josephine and Beatrice (Cooke) Ryan, Margaret (Brian) Archibald; brothers-in-law, Millan MacDonald, Duncan MacDonald, Donald (Martha) MacDonald; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her soulmate and husband Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, brothers Donald (Donnie) Cooke, William (Billy) Cooke, brothers-in-law Art Cahoon and Milton (Mickey) Melanson.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King St., New Glasgow, NS from where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial afterward in Brookside Cemetery. Reception to follow at H.W. Angus Funeral Home.
