Bryan Richard MacKenzie

MacKENZIE, Bryan Richard – 39, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday evening, November 2, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, following a brave 10 month battle with cancer. Born April 3, 1975, in Truro, he was a son of Dorothy MacKenzie (Doug Parsons), Parrsboro, and Elroy MacKenzie, Truro. Bryan graduated from Cobequid Educational Centre in 1993. He worked at Truro YMCA for a number of years, volunteered with NSCC, Truro Campus, Daycare Program, for the past 12 years and currently worked at Sid Sells Signs. He enjoyed watching movies, “working” on his laptop, and listening to music. Along with his parents, Bryan is survived by his maternal grandmother, Vera Reid, Tatamagouche; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Bryan was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Roland Reid; paternal grandparents, Stanley and Gladys MacKenzie; uncle, Leo MacKenzie; cousin, Nancy Cain. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Shen (family doctor), Dr. Cortney Smith and Dr. David Henderson and the entire Palliative Care Team at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, Victorian Order of Nurses and Canadian Red Cross. As well, we want to thank our circle of family and friends for your constant care, love, prayers and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a celebration of Bryan’s life will be held 2-4 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, with a family reflection at 3 pm. No flowers by request. If so desired, donations in Bryan’s memory to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre are welcomed.
