It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Sara Christine March announce her passing, on Nov. 2, 2014, as a result of a tragic traffic accident in St. John’s Newfoundland.
Sara was the daughter of Shawn and Janice March (MacLeod) of Sydney and the granddaughter of Mary Jane MacLeod of Sydney and Howard March of Corner Brook, N.L.
Sara is loved and immensely missed by her parents, grandparents, sister Brooke, brother Zachary, great-grandparents, John A. and Anne MacDonald of Albert Bridge, Maude Boone of Corner Brook, uncles, John MacLeod (Margie) and Allan MacLeod (Karen) of Sydney, Fred (Bonnie) March of St. John’s, N.L., aunts, Glenda Burbury (Ray), Julia Sharpe (Glenn), Joanne Laberge of Corner Brook, Janet Masse (Francois) of St. John’s, cousins, Brittany, Alexis, Amanda, Dylan, Rheann, Peter, Jonathan, Andrew, Andrea, Ryan, Evan, Robyn, Casey, Ian, Jeremy, Joshua, Sarah, and Rebecca. Also left to mourn are many great aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her special cat Charlie.
Sara is also survived by her boyfriend Adam Ravalia, his parents Mohamed and Dianne Ravalia, and brother Mikhail.
Sara cherished the time she spent in Twillingate, N.L. and always spoke with love and appreciation for their wonderful family.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Dennis MacLeod and paternal grandmother Phyllis March.
Sara was attending Memorial University of Newfoundland as a third-year biochemistry student. She was a French immersion graduate from Riverview Rural High School and was also very proud to call herself an angel who attended Holy Angels High for grades 10 and 11. She was always very active in her school community and was well known for her competitive nature and infectious confidence.
Sara was very involved in many sports her favorites being soccer and rugby. She was so proud to be a member of every team and wore her school colours with pride. She was a talented member of Kostume Kapers and loved her drama family. She was an amazing young lady who gave 100 per cent of herself in everything she did. Sara has many awards, certificates and medals that show her many accomplishments but her huge smile, and amazing zest for life are her true legacy. She will be sadly missed by so many friends, coaches, teachers, co-workers and classmates. She was a bright light and had a profound effect on the world around her.
Sara had a deep affection for animals, in particular her cat Charlie.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA, Riverview Scholarship Fund or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at S.W. Chant & SonFuneral home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Highland Arts Theatre (former St. Andrews United Church), 40 Bentinck St., Sydney.
