BOOY, Anne June – age 86, of Yarmouth, passed away November 3, 2014 at Treasured Memories Seniors Residence. Born in North Bay, Ontario on June 30, 1928, she was a daughter to the late William George and Jane (White) Thompson. Anne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a community advocate and volunteer who volunteered with the Yarmouth Hospital Gift shop for 30+ years, Yarmouth Museum, Yarmouth Library, Meals on Wheels. She was one of the founding members who started the Yarmouth S.P.C.A. Anne also taught a course on basic bookkeeping at the adult learning center. Bookkeeping was a skill in which she excelled, starting work as a bookkeeper at the age of 15, even before she graduated from school. In her spare time she was a member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed walking, member of the MacDonald’s Coffee Club, and loved to sew, knit, bake, and crochet. She is survived by her two sons, Doug (Sherry LaPointe-Booy) Booy, Passekeag N.B.; Richard W. Booy (Jaslyn Clement), Ste-Therese Quebec; grandchildren, Joshua and Alexandra. Anne was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband Richard. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service was held Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Helen Chandler officiated. Interment will follow at a later date in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in North Bay Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to sweenysfh@eastlink.ca.
