It is with great sadness that the family of Yvonne Viola Lewis age 96 of Amherst, announce her peaceful passing on Monday, November 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Gables Lodge, Amherst.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Ruben and Marguerite (Robichaud) Melanson.
She loved watching her children play sports and going for drives with her good friend Jean.
Yvonne was a strong and vibrant spirit who enjoyed quilting, playing cards, bingo, camping and her time spent working in her greenhouse in River Hebert.
Yvonne is survived by her children Grant (Rhonda) of Brookdale, Gary (Eileen) of Tidnish Head and Terry (Loretta) of Amherst, 10 grandchildren Kim “Grant”, Giselle, Yvette, Jeff, Erin, Meagan, Brittney, Morgan, Danielle, Paige, and many great and great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Henry, daughter Marilyn Furlong, grandsons Kelly and Kipp Furlong and her long-time friend and partner Amos Belliveau.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care provided to Yvonne by the staff in the North Wing at Gables Lodge. The love and compassion shown to her in her time spent at Gables provided much comfort not only to Yvonne but also to her family.
Memorial donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
