It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cecilia Marie Smith of Dominion Street, Glace Bay on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at CCU, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathleen (Dalton) Harte.
Cecilia was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. A wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Cecilia was most at home when she was surrounded by her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and tending to her two cats, Miss Meau and Pebbles. Cecilia was a compassionate nature lover and was kind to all animals.
She is survived by sons, Bobby (Pauline), Greg (Debbie), Eric (Colista); grandchildren, Greg (Shauna), Gary (Shantel), Alana (Dave), Matthew (Kristen); great-grandchildren, Anika, Ava, Abbey, Holly, Ryder, Rylee and Logan. Also left to mourn her passing are siblings, Joan (Mel Harris), London, Ont., Buddy Harte, Toronto, Ont.; close friend, Bernie ‘Sonny’ Seward and his family, Gary, Ray, Joe, Olivia, Alice; brothers-in-law, Sheldon and Weldon Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cecilia was predeceased by her husband, Eric Smith and a sister-in-law, Winnie Harte.
Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home then interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Cecilia’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
