STELLARTON – Louis Gregory MacDonald, of Stellarton, passed away on November 5, 2014.
Born in New Glasgow, on August 22, 1947, he was a son of the late Roderick J. and Elizabeth C. (MacDonald) MacDonald.
He was a retired employee of Maritime Tel and Tel Co. In earlier years he was very active in sports, particularly baseball and hockey and was a Montreal Canadiens fan. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews taking them on various outings and he will be fondly remembered by them.
He is survived by sisters: Ann (Leonard) Bates, Swampscott, Ma.; Mary (Al) Sutherland, New Glasgow; brothers: Donald “Duke”, Linacy; John “Bun” (Donna), Westville; Neil (Lolly), New Glasgow; Lawrence, Trenton; George “Willie” (Marion), New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Francis, sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Isabel MacDonald and long-time companion, Shirley Hallam.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 7, from 6-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 8 at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
No flowers by request. Donations in his memory may be made to the Arthritis Society of N.S.
