LONDON, JEANETTE - (1944 - 2014) - London, Jeanette Ann (Devoe) - It is with heavy hearts the family of Jeanette London, loving wife of Russell, announce her passing at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on Thursday, November 6, 2014. Born in Halifax on July 15, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Rita and John Devoe. Jeanette was raised in Cape Breton and met Russell, a sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy, at the Olympic Gardens Dance Hall in Halifax. They married in 1964 and settled in Gagetown, NB to raise their three daughters. Jeanette enjoyed the simpler pleasures in life such as spending time with her granddaughters, reading, visiting with her sisters in Nova Scotia, and getting together with the GEMS retirees group. Her family will miss her famous apple pies and ginger sparkle cookies. She was employed for 35 years at Orchard View Long Term Care Home (formerly Gagetown Nursing Home), retiring in 2009. In addition to her husband, she will be missed by her daughters: Stephanie (Chris) Campbell of New Maryland, Susan (Aloysius) Hayes of Miramichi, Jill (Jody) Pinnock of Stanley; granddaughters Victoria and Elizabeth Campbell; Charlotte and Marianne Hayes; and Callie, Audrey, and Emmeline Pinnock. Jeanette is also survived by sisters Cathy, Barb, Diane, Marion, and Jacqueline. She was predeceased by her parents, stepmother Alice, and sisters Jean and Bernice.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Sunday, November 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church in Gagetown with Fr Antonio Reyes officiating. Reception to follow at the Gagetown Legion. A private family interment will follow. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.oromoctofh.com
